wonderful, brought a tear to my eye too there! i love the art, even the pieces you don't? ;) yes the world is a heavy weight right now.. i found myself typing out on email to a friend replying to my xmas card that 'it's a terrible/beautiful world..' ;) it comes all tangled together <3 take care all of you!! <3 i love those kitties! (reclusive pdx catlady here..)
I love The Shortest Day. I keep it with some Christmas books that I take out when we decorate our tree and it makes it feel special to see your beautiful illustrations again each year. Personally this time of year is hard for me for many reasons, but I love the line "They carol, feast, give thanks, and dearly love their friends, and hope for peace." It always makes me feel like I have something in my eye. Happy holidays Carson and fellow slowpokes. 🌞
Ohhh I love that Santa story. That made my day. And I have to think that your Peace on Earth card is the right choice even if I don’t know the others. Peace is always a good message ✌️☮️🕊️
That Santa is 100 percent a Dungeon Master. Good call. And I can relate to much of this. After a long ass day of working on my current deadline this was such a treat to read - cathartic and awesome. Happy holidays, glad the world has some good people worried about it.
I can relate to feeling creatively stupefied because of everything going on in the world... it's too much to process. And then there's the fear that I'll just become used to it and go back to 'normal' while all these horrible things are still happening, which is even worse! Thanks for this, it was inspiring. Especially Santa.
Happy solstice.to you, Carson, from the Netherlands, where the garbage truck pulls up at 830 am in the pitch dark, and I have to wait until 9 until it’s light enough to walk my dog. Wishing you, and the world, all kinds of good things for the year ahead, most importantly, an intact democracy 🧡
What an awesome Santa! And what nice boys.:-)
I love this book that you made... I wrote about it in a piece here called Apoptosis...
Well. Now there’s something in my eye too.
Happy Solstice. 🌞🌚
This is so lovely.
This was touching and inspiring. Thank you.
And now I’m crying.

My card this year was a total dud too but I sent it anyway. 🙃

Fittingly, today at my shop we sold our last copy of The Shortest Day. Happy Winter Solstice!
We read your book every year. Welcome Yule!
Dawww. This Santa is truly rad.
Peace on Earth is what I am wishing for too :(
