spring is my favorite month - due in part to the flowers. that magnolia is just beautiful! springtime in texas is so beautiful with all the bluebonnets and pink wildflowers, and with even more birds than usual.
That's the first outfit I've ever seen described as eveningwear that I would willingly put on my body. I'll have to work up some courage to try drawing a spring line myself but these photo tips are super helpful just in general, thank you!
This was lovely, and the sound of the rain and hail made it all the sweeter. I love rainy days. It's when we can enjoy doing solitary arts. Thank you so much for generously sharing like this.
Thank you so much for sharing your process. If you are not already aware there is a wonderful book with David Hockney called Spring Cannot Be Cancelled. I love how he has always embraced new technology across his career and one of the fabulous things about the book is his ipad drawings and his discussion of that process. I have been pretty averse to drawing on the ipad, but his works and the book have called me back to reconsider. Cheers
Watching and hearing your process (and thoughts about camellias) is really a comfort for returning with resolve to my color bewilderment. The hail too helps. Thank you !
I got caught in that hail while out on a run on the Oregon coast this past week and it was sharp but invigorating! My tiny human (4 “and a half”) and I watched your lovely camellia bloom from the page and we were both entranced. Looking forward to sharing my spring line later this week, perhaps inspired by the shifting weather patterns.
I have always wanted a tattoo. I just can't decide what. But I think I'd regret not getting one. I liked your musings about the snail tattoo. And hearing you, a professional artist, just go for it with this flower and go "I'm not sure how I feel about it". So maybe these thoughts are connected. Like.. just do things and make things.

I would wear all your looks, Carson. <3
ahhh, I loved everything about this post! The video was so fun to watch. Would you mind sharing the brand of that cool gouache palette?

Thanks for sharing your camellia gouache painting. It's so fun and relaxing watching others paint.

That was really fun to watch. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you for this live painting video 😍
It’s extremely soothing 💖
I’ve been trying to go back to physical materials si ce I’ve been working digitally for way too long. And gouache sounds like a very good option ✨

May magnolias never be demolished!
Also: the combination of exceedingly bright camelias and the pounding rattle of hail was a perfect spring moment. Thank you.

I am curious as to what brushes do you use when drawing digitally. Thanks! Happy spring 🌱🌻
Thank you for painting and for endorsing slowness. I’m going to find my gouaches and give it ago.
You are so cool :) thanks for sharing your process video. I loved it.
