I somehow got my copy back on Sept 1st but I didn't want to stress anyone out by mentioning it (I don't know how publishing works). I was going to read it slow then mowed through it while the kids napped. It made me feel all the sad and sweet of being dumb as (poo) and in my early 20s. I loved how boring the diary was and how lush the paintings. I really worried about your borrowed friend's-grandma's-finery.
I don't know how publishing works either. Pre-ordering is a mystery. Thanks for doing it. That friend was / is much more responsible than me and I'm sure I had to hand over those lucky rings when we dropped her at home.
Me too! I preordered from my local little bookstore, got it Sept 1, read it in an evening and morning, and felt like I was holding this huge beautiful secret. Can’t wait to go to Powell’s tonight!
This book looks delightful and already from what I've seen reminds me of the world of my 20's. A torturous and treasured, dynamic and creative time. I LOVE the new Mercury cover and fondly remember the old one!
