Oh no! Too annoying to trick-or-treat in? Unfortunately, I can see that too. :\ Hopefully whatever he wants for Halloween will be easier to make! ^^

I loved making costumes when my kids were young! But they wore them all the time, not just on Halloween. My favorite costumes I ever made were probably their Stupendous Man outfits, even more than their wizard cloaks or the Jedi-ish tunic. We still have them all. I am looking forward to seeing your next quilt. Wishing you lots of motivation!

In weird coincidence news, I’ve bought the “This is San Francisco” book three times. It’s not like I’m giving it away or anything, either. I’ve seen it three times and have wondered “Why don’t I have this yet?!” 🙃

Kids and Halloween. So relatable! For what it’s worth my kiddo is dying of envy at Milo’s Bill Cypher!

I bought a Mothman onesie online to wear for Halloween...and just realized last night I'll be working that evening! So I'll just wear it all weekend before instead.

It’s good to hear abandoning projects is ok. I do this a lot when something fun feels like a chore and then I judge myself for it. Been working on this balance- for example , the “draw a thing every day” - I’m always happy when I’ve drawn something so I’m glad for the challenge (in my case doing some DrawTogether assignments) but if time slips away I TRY not to feel obligated to make it up. Halloween... I go bonkers . My house is lit up in purple and orange and we have a haunted forest theme (spider, werewolf, haunted trees etc) that I add to a little every year. I watch as many horror movies as I can and we make it a game (we have a chart and roll a die to pick the movie). Homemade costumes are the best! And that photo of you is totally rad.

One thing that would be nice to see in a tutorial would be how to cover large amounts of space with gouache and make it look fairly even.

omygosh I love Julia Sarda's books! I can't wait to see The Queen in the Cave -- been anticipating it for months.

"My very forgiving personal philosophy is that it’s always okay to set a creative intention and then bail on it, even in full view of whoever is paying attention to you on the internet."

Oh my gosh, you may have revolutionized my process. Thank you for this. 💜

It turns out I love nothing more than quietly funny and weird picture book recommendations. Thank you!
