I will “see” Colin from afar at Edgefield on Saturday, and I’ll be on the lookout for the George George when I make my way to Astoria. Hang in there, Mama.
I didn’t paint along with the demo—I was having too much peaceful fun just watching. But afterwards I did try painting a Payne’s Grey background on a piece. It’s my favorite color right now! Such drama and versatility. I did have trouble getting the background to look even, though, so I might go back and watch that part again to pick up some tips.
Love this space and the content you share. I always struggle with summer too. My boys are 15 and 18 now, so it's definitely gotten 'easier' to be a freelancer working from home and juggling the parenting/work life. I'm finding moments to enjoy, but I still mostly feel frazzled throughout. I took that little sentence you wrote about August, and applied it like a salve to my own tattered mental state, and I feel much better. Thank you. Oh fall! Come soon and bring us schedules, the end to 'summer feet' and the return of our cozy sweaters. I hope August is gentle to you, and you can be gentle to yourself, and if people see you out and about they will also tell you that you are cool.
I love summer but have mixed feelings about August too. It's my birthday month but it's always too hot here in NC. It also means I have to go back to work (I work in a public school). Trying to enjoy the freedom even though it can be hard keeping my daughter busy when it's so hot outside. I'm excited for this month's transmundane Tuesday prompt 💖
In a picturebook I’m making I have to substitute hedgehogs for a similar type of animal which may visit American yards at night like hedgehogs do here in English gardens ( if we’re lucky!) … do raccoons have similar habits ? or how about possums ? any ideas ? Sheena.
August
not sure what I love more - hi top down low, or george george
Cuteness overload!!

Excellent racoon, excellent painting, excellent old mansion! Is the George George occupied?
I will give Colin a wave from you here in Denver on the 12th!
I hope this August will treat you with extreme kindness.

Every Tuesday now I try and find something transmundane. Today it was the car getting stolen.
Anyway this has to be my favorite prompt yet. Thanks Carson<3
(Car was recovered, by the way. All is well:)
His concentration will be elsewhere but I will give a wave to Colin at Ridgefield this Sat.
I showed the raccoon to five-year-old Lin Lin. She smiled and said, “If I were her, I’d be glad it’s not a skunk.”
It’s so true! I’m desperate to take time and write this summer, but my kids will only want to hang out with me for a few more years. Writing can wait.
