A friend of mine and I were just talking about despair, til the season? And PNW teens are hardcore; your illustration at the bus stop made me lol. Reminds me of this group of teens in my neighborhood who wait for the school bus in bare heads and t-shirts, regardless of the temps. On my way to work I drive by and have to suppress the urge to run out and give them scarves and hot cocoa like a concerned grandma.
Your posts are like sunlight filtered through spent rainclouds—thank you for the thoughtful, inspiring words reveling in the present elements.
I was wondering if you might post a supplies list for the two workshops as we wait to register for the next iteration—especially the gouache intensive. I’m particularly thinking if you have particular brands you like or a “starter palette” with any convenience colors you’d recommend? I have a random assortment of colors and brands but I’m very curious as to what you might recommend. Also I don’t want to show up to the class without a color I really need. Lol.
Thought this might be useful prep we could do. Just a thought.
Thanks! There’s a detailed supply list for each workshop that will be provided once you enroll. In a nutshell: I recommend a Winsor & Newton gouache set. Ultramarine blue, paynes gray (which you have to purchase separately - W&N doesn’t make it) and white are all critical for the gouache intensive. I recommend round synthetic watercolor brushes in a few different sizes and Arches for people who want to splurge on nice paper. The All-Level workshop is designed to be as cheap as possible materials-wise: thick paper, pencil, waterproof pen, brushes and watercolor or gouache. Attendees can buy supplies (there are recommendations in the sign up email) or use what they have around the house.
Beautiful Carson, thank you.
Edit: what a difference a comma makes! I'll leave it that way, because everyone needs to be told that they are beautiful. :D
i LOVE that you know this band
Innocence Mission!!! <3

Oh Innocence Mission! I haven't thought of them in years. Thank you. <3

Thank you so much for offering these workshops!

Ah dang, thanks for this song. I needed this today. She even mentions the lakes of Canada. Good for homesickness x
💚
Love The Innocence Mission…. but I had forgotten about them through the years up to now. Glad to be reminded. This is such a rainy song.
I kind of collect cry songs.
Same, same
The first picture in your post- is it too from the same period as the other series? It's haunting and feels like a separate moment in your mind.
Love Innocence Mission. Those lyrics hang heavy, don't they? The tiny bit of hope for an individual, but the unity in that hope is beautiful.
I can’t remember when the first painting is from. Probably around the same time.
I love your posts
Thanks :)
It truly has been so wet and so dark! Loved those paintings. xoxo
