Hello! Today is Transmundane Tuesday.
The middle prompt used to be “drawing a picture” but I must have decided that it wasn’t specific enough because at some point I changed it. Best of luck to you with this one. Draw this and tag it #glovedbutterflypainting and #transmundanetuesdays.
October, if you didn’t know, is the official drawing prompt month over on Instagram. It all started with #inktober - a list of prompts - one for each day - to draw and post with hashtags.
It has since spun off into countless other lists and iterations.
I’ve tried to participate in Inktober but I never stick with it for very long. This year I’m attempting to keep a daily illustrated diary. I’m three days in. So far so good. Are you knee-deep in some October drawing challenge? Tell us about it.
But Speaking of Tuxedo Cats
It’s the pub day for This Story is Not About a Kitten!
Don’t worry - this book, by Randall de Sève, is actually about a kitten. It’s also about neighbors working together to take care of their vulnerable members and creating community in the process. Good stuff. It’s based on the true story of a tuxedo kitten rescued by a bunch of folks in Brooklyn, but I set it in a verdant springtime Portland neighborhood because that’s where my heart is.
Ask for it at your local bookstore or buy it at bookshop.org.
In Other News
We’re having an extra long summer here in Northwestern Oregon but today the fog rolled in and it finally felt like fall.
There are spiders everywhere, like there always are in the fall, and I guess one of them crawled into my cup of Transmundane Tuesday prompts and…made a web? Laid some eggs?
Okay, ta ta for now. Don’t work too hard. It’s not a race. Unless you’re trying to keep up with a list of prompts that has you drawing something you like enough to share on the internet for 31 days in a row, in which case it is kind of a race. But don’t forget: you make the rules.
Love,
Carson
i've tried inktober/doggust in the past but can't keep up and it stresses me out. my favorite set of prompts i've seen this year is for "rat-ober" and i was very tempted but...i hate the idea of not finishing things so much that i just won't start.
Ooh the D + D one is going to go over so big in my house
